Biography
Dr Johan Augustyn specialises in interventional cardiology, and in addition to performing cutting-edge procedures, has applied himself to structural heart disease intervention (e.g. mitral commissurotomy, left atrial appendage occlusion) and all peripheral vascular interventions, including endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, and both large and small vessel peripheral vascular disease.
Structural heart disease interventions are gaining ground rapidly — for example left atrial appendage occlusion for patients with atrial fibrillation who cannot tolerate oral anticoagulation.
